Introduction to the Martial Art of Aikido

Open to all Lehigh students, faculty, staff

and interested members of the local community

Classes hosted by Lehigh Valley Aikikai, in cooperation with the Lehigh University Aikido Club, under the direction of Sensei Minh Nguyen M.D. and his chief instructor Scott Toonder. These classes will introduce the basic principles of Aikido, a Japanese Martial Art loosely translated as “The Way of Harmony.”  Students also will learn some basic self-defense and be exposed to the underlying philosophy and history behind the art. Since Aikido takes advantage of the “attacker’s” own power, it is suitable for anyone, even for a weaker/smaller person to defend against a stronger one.

Classes will be held in Taylor Gym’s 5th floor fitness room (on the south side of the building) from 8:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. for four weeks, on the following dates: September 17, 24, October 1, and 8. Students who complete this seminar will be welcome to continue training with the Lehigh Valley Aikikai dojo located here on Lehigh University's campus.

(limited to 35 students)

$40 per student.

Dress in loose comfortable clothing.
